Any person with one of the following qualifications: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), DPhil/ Doctor of Laws (LLD)/Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)/Doctor of Public Admin (DAdmin)/ Doctor of Technology or Doctor Technologiae (DTech)/ Doctor of Commerce (DCom).

- Copies of qualifications
- Copy of your Identification Document or Passport
- Proof of Payment if paying via EFT/Direct deposit
- SAQA Accreditation (If qualifications are International)
Any person studying towards one of the following qualifications: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), DPhil/ Doctor of Laws (LLD)/Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)/Doctor of Public Admin (DAdmin)/ Doctor of Technology or Doctor Technologiae (DTech)/ Doctor of Commerce (DCom).

- Proof of registration
- Copy of your Identification Document
- Proof of Payment if paying via EFT/Direct deposit
- SAQA Accreditation (If qualifications are International)
- Each member receives a yearly SAAPhDs Membership Certificate and
- Each member access to a copy of the SAAPhDs Constitution and Code of Conduct
- Through membership of SAAPhDs, individuals able to contribute towards, and gainfully participate in, a host of educational and promotional activities aimed at continuously elevating and empowering PhD holders in South Africa.
- By joining SAAPhDs, members becoming part of the most progressive body for PhD holders in South Africa.
- The opportunity to network and engage with other members on issues of shared interest through information sharing
- Benefit from discounted attendance fees for the annual SAAPhDs Conference and other events.
- Information sharing through Workshops, Seminars and Position papers
- Lobbying to government and various authorities on behalf of members, academics and other researchers to influence public policy.
- Voting rights and may stand for election as office bearers.
- The scale of annual subscriptions is generally set at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association on the advice of the Executive Committee (Exco).
Subscriptions are payable in advance, on or before 1 January of each year.
Only members who are fully paid up may stand for election as office bearers and only fully paid-up members are entitled to vote.
Only fully paid-up members are entitled to claim any reduced fee offered to members for attendance at any event organised by the Association.
‘Fully paid up’ means that all membership fees for the current financial year and any outstanding membership fees have been paid in full.
1.1 Annual Cost
- Full member: R750 per annum
- Student member: R150 per annum
This Association is a non-profit organisation and funding will be required for general administration of activities. The following are proposed funding models that will be used to generate funds for the upkeeping of activities and objectives of the Association.
- Funds generated from annual membership fees to support the organization.
- Annual conferences, seminars and colloquiums with various guests and speakers.
- Private donors such as private companies and individual who belief in the objectives and mission of the Association.
- Grants from government specifically from the Department of Higher Education, Training and Technology.
